Shipping consolidation at your agent: 3 pairs in 1 parcel, €49 less shipping
Updated 01/11/2026
"Shipping consolidation agent", "how to consolidate a haul": the idea is to wait until all your items have reached your agent's warehouse, then ship everything in one parcel. We ran the numbers on 78 shipping lines to France, recorded on October 21, 2026: sending 3 pairs of shoes in one parcel instead of three saves a median €49.19 in shipping. Here's why, and the traps: volumetric weight, storage, customs.
The short answer
Every parcel pays the first step of the rate again, and that's the expensive one: across 78 shipping lines to France recorded on October 21, 2026, the first kilo costs a median €33.99, against €15.57 for each extra kilo. Counting every started kilo, putting 3 pairs of shoes in one parcel instead of three therefore saves a median €49.19 in shipping (€18.99 to €136.21 depending on the line). For 4 items (one pair, one hoodie, two T-shirts), it's €82.55. Three things to watch: the volumetric weight of a big box, free storage at your agent (90 to 120 days at the agents whose rules we read) and the €150 goods threshold at customs.
What does consolidating at your agent mean?
When you order from Yupoo through a buying agent, each seller ships your item to the agent's warehouse in China. The agent receives it, shows you photos (the QC photos), then waits for your instructions. You decide when it leaves: item by item as soon as it arrives, or all together in one parcel. That's consolidation. The full process is in How to buy from Yupoo: from album to parcel at your door, in 5 steps, and what an agent does is in KakoBuy, CNFans, ACBuy, MuleBuy, HooBuy: shopping agents compared.
Consolidating takes a bit of patience, since you wait for the last item. In return, you pay for one shipment only. One of the agents whose pages we read says it in black and white: it combines several items into one parcel for free, which can lower your international shipping costs.
Why one parcel costs less: the first kilo
Agent price grids don't charge by the gram. A line's price is a first step, then a price per extra step, from 10 g to 1 kg depending on the line, and any step you start is charged in full. Some lines add fixed fees per parcel, such as customs clearance. Our grids give the price at 1, 2 and 3 kg, so our calculation counts every started kilo (a 1.55 kg parcel counts as 2 kg).
On the 78 lines in our calculation, the first kilo always costs more than the next ones: a median €33.99, against €15.57 for each extra kilo. On the same line, it costs a median 2.11 times the price of an extra kilo. Three parcels pay the first step three times; one combined parcel pays it once.
| First kilo | 33.99 € |
|---|---|
| Each extra kilo | 15.57 € |

Our calculation, on real price grids
Yupa records agents' shipping grids for its delivered price calculator, Delivered price calculator. On October 21, 2026, we had 143 lines to France at 21 agents. We kept 78, at 7 agents: those where we have the price of the first kilo and of the following ones, read on the agent's public calculator or price page. We left out:
- 20 lines estimated from a single price (for 3 kg): their curve is inferred, so it says nothing about the real price of the first kilo;
- 42 lines whose recorded grid doesn't give the price of the first kilo;
- 3 lines whose name mentions batteries or clothing: our calculator leaves them out for a parcel that contains shoes.
Weights used, the same as in the calculator: 1.3 kg for a pair of shoes, 0.7 kg for a hoodie, 250 g for a T-shirt, plus 250 g of packaging per parcel. Each parcel is counted by started kilo. On each line, we compare the price of the items sent each in its own parcel with the price of the combined parcel. Rate: ¥1 = €0.132; grids shown in dollars are converted at ¥1 = $0.149. We only count shipping: no agent fees, no customs, no VAT.
The result: €49 less for 3 pairs
The more parcels you avoid, the more you save. With 2 pairs, our calculation gives a saving of exactly one first kilo: a median €33.99. With 3 pairs, €49.19, and half the lines land between €38.24 and €58.07. With 4 items (one pair, one hoodie, two T-shirts), €82.55, which is more than half the shipping cost (56.4% median).
| What you ship | Real weight of the combined parcel | Median saving | Minimum | Maximum | Share of shipping saved |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 pairs of shoes | 2.85 kg | €33.99 | €14.53 | €72.64 | 33.9% |
| 3 pairs of shoes | 4.15 kg | €49.19 | €18.99 | €136.21 | 34.5% |
| 1 pair, 1 hoodie, 2 T-shirts | 2.75 kg | €82.55 | €33.52 | €207.83 | 56.4% |
78 lines to France, grids recorded October 21, 2026. Share of shipping saved: saving divided by the price of the separate parcels, median of the 78 lines. The gap between minimum and maximum comes mostly from the first kilo, billed €14.53 on the cheapest line and €72.64 on the most expensive one.
| 2 pairs: 2 parcels → 1 | 33.99 € |
|---|---|
| 3 pairs: 3 parcels → 1 | 49.19 € |
| 1 pair, 1 hoodie, 2 T-shirts: 4 parcels → 1 | 82.55 € |

The detailed calculation, on one line
Take a "special shoes" line to Europe, close to the median on our grids: €34.76 for the first kilo, €19.10 for each extra kilo (grid of October 21, 2026). Here is our calculation, by started kilo.
| Shipment | Real weight | Weight counted | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 pair alone | 1.55 kg | 2 kg | €53.86 |
| 3 pairs in 3 parcels | 3 × 1.55 kg | 3 × 2 kg | €161.59 |
| 3 pairs in 1 parcel | 4.15 kg | 5 kg | €111.16 |
| Saving | €50.43 |
3 parcels = 3 × (first kilo + 1 extra kilo). 1 parcel = first kilo + 4 extra kilos. So the saving equals 2 first kilos minus 1 extra kilo. Prices are calculated with the grid's unrounded rates: redone with rounded amounts, they can be off by one cent. On the same line, the 4-item basket costs €158.15 in 4 parcels and €72.96 in one (2.75 kg, counted as 3 kg), a saving of €85.19. Checked on November 1, 2026 on the agent's public calculator: there, this line counts by half-kilo. The 3 pairs in one parcel are billed as 4.5 kg, so €101.91 against €162.07 in 3 parcels: a saving of €60.16. A T-shirt alone (500 g) pays only a first half-kilo there, €25.30: the 4-item basket's saving drops to €66.33. Prices shown in dollars, converted at our grids' rates (¥1 = €0.132 and ¥1 = $0.149).
The big-box trap: volumetric weight
A light but bulky parcel isn't billed at its real weight. The carrier works out a volumetric weight and charges whichever is higher. The formula: length × width × height in centimeters, divided by a number set by the carrier or the line.
Example: your 3 pairs (4.15 kg real) in a 40 × 30 × 30 cm box, that is 36,000 cm³. Divided by 5,000, that's 7.2 kg. By 6,000, 6 kg. By 8,000, 4.5 kg. In all three cases, it's more than the real weight. On a per-kilo grid, 7.2 kg is billed as 8 kg instead of 5: three extra kilos, or €46.71 at the median extra-kilo price on our 78 lines.
Our calculation above uses real weight. 8 of the 78 lines have "Actual Weight" in their name. For the others, ask your agent for the box dimensions before you pay for shipping.
| Divisor | Who uses it | 1 m³ counts as |
|---|---|---|
| 5,000 | DHL Express; UPS, which then rounds up to the next half kilo | 200 kg |
| 6,000 | Most air cargo, according to one agent's calculator; a French freight forwarder for its lines | 167 kg |
| 8,000 | Another agent's DHL lines to Europe | 125 kg |
Shoe boxes: remove, fold or keep
A shoe box is mostly air, and you pay for air through volumetric weight. So agents offer to deal with it before shipping. What their public pages say:
- One agent folds the box for ¥5 apiece to save space, and warns that the box may keep creases.
- The same agent removes excess packaging for free, but depending on the case keeps the original packaging needed to protect the item.
- Another one advises, for a parcel mixing shoes and clothes, to remove or fold the boxes and vacuum-pack the clothes around them.
The risk: a folded box stays marked, and a removed box protects nothing. If the box matters to you, keep it.
Customs: what consolidating changes
Consolidating can also change what you pay at customs, both ways. The details and the maths are in Customs on parcels from China in 2026: €3 duty, €2 fee, VAT, worked out. The key points:
- Items of the same type count only once per parcel. The €3 duty per item in the customs sense (a product type, not a piece) has applied since July 1, 2026 to parcels with €150 of goods or less. The EU handling fee, €2 per item, comes on top for parcels declared from November 1, 2026, whatever their value. Our guide gives the example: 3 T-shirts in one parcel, €3 + €2; in three parcels, €9 + €6.
- Above €150 of goods, the flat €3 duty no longer applies: normal customs duties apply instead, and they depend on the product; the €2 fee per item is still due. Three pairs at the median shoe price in the Yupa catalog (€57 a pair on November 1, 2026) come to more than €170: the combined parcel goes over. The Delivered price calculator calculator warns you when your basket goes over €150: normal duties then come on top of its total.
- Never split an order to stay under the threshold, and always declare the real value. Regulation (EU) 2026/382, which scrapped the old exemption, explains that it opened the door to systematic abuse of the €150 threshold: undervaluation and the artificial splitting of shipments.
- On "duties included" lines (60 of the 78 lines in our calculation), the agent says it pays the duties inside the line price. Ask how it counts the €3 and the €2: per parcel or per item.

Watch the free storage period
Consolidating means waiting. Meanwhile, the first item to arrive is using up its free storage. What three agents' public pages say:
| Agent | Free storage | After that |
|---|---|---|
| Basetao | 120 days | Parcel considered abandoned, may be disposed of without further notice |
| KakoBuy | 100 days | Email reminder at 90 days, then parcel considered abandoned and destroyed |
| Superbuy | 90 days | ¥0.1 per item per day, 180 days maximum |
Pages read on November 1, 2026. The clock starts when the item is logged into the warehouse. A seller is dragging their feet? Better to ship without them than to miss the deadline.
Consolidation fees
Consolidating isn't always free, but the fees we found are charged per parcel or per shipment: every parcel you avoid saves them. The freight forwarder's fees are already in our calculation, counted in the first kilo of its lines. The ¥8 per parcel isn't: that's extra saving.
| Agent | What its public page says |
|---|---|
| Freight2France | Handling fee charged once per shipment, whatever the number of boxes: €11.58 for express, €15 for economy |
| Sugargoo | Packing fee: ¥8 per parcel |
| Superbuy | Combining several items into one parcel: free |
Pages read on November 1, 2026. We didn't find these fees on other agents' public pages: ask before you confirm the shipment.
Maximum weight, size and insurance
A big combined parcel can fall outside a line's limits, and that line is then no longer offered.
- Weight: on November 1, 2026, the lines one agent's calculator showed for France took 2, 5, 19, 20 or 30 kg at most, depending on the line (sea freight aside). A freight forwarder's express line goes up to 25 kg.
- Size: another agent limits its DHL lines to 60 × 40 × 40 cm, 60 × 50 × 40 cm or 120 × 60 × 60 cm depending on the line. At UPS, length plus twice the width plus twice the height must not exceed 400 cm.
- Value: some lines refuse parcels above a declared value, for example $50 or $150 on lines from that same agent. A combined parcel is worth more: if it's over, change lines, never lower the declared value.
- "Commercial" parcel: one agent warns that a parcel over 10 kg, or with many units of the same item, is more likely to be seen as a commercial shipment by customs.
- Insurance: your whole haul travels in one box, so a loss hits everything. One agent offers 2% of the parcel's total cost (compensation capped at ¥3,500) or 4% for full insurance, for parcels with up to ¥3,500 of goods, without covering duties and taxes. Another shows free insurance on its DHL lines, without detailing the terms on the calculator. Read them before you pay for shipping.
Consolidating without bad surprises
- Place your orders over a short period, so everything reaches the warehouse at about the same time.
- Write down the arrival date of the first item: its free storage period is the one that counts.
- Check each item on its QC photos as soon as it arrives, without waiting for the others: before shipping is when you can still refuse it (method in QC photos: GL or RL? The checklist before your parcel ships).
- Before you pay for shipping, ask for the box weight and dimensions, and decide what to do with the shoe boxes.
- Compare lines in Delivered price calculator with your real basket: weight, value of the goods (€150 threshold), line limits.
- Always declare the real value.
The limits of this calculation
- The grids were recorded once, on October 21, 2026. Agents change their prices and offer coupons: redo the maths on shipping day.
- Our grids give the price at 1, 2 and 3 kg, so we count by started kilo. Many lines count more finely (by half-kilo, by 100 g) or add fixed fees per parcel. If they all counted by half-kilo after the first kilo, at the same price per kilo, the median saving for 3 pairs would be €58.73; by 100 g, €42.37. And when the first step is a half-kilo, a T-shirt alone costs less to ship: the 4-item basket's saving drops.
- These are grids for delivery to France. To another country, prices are different.
- The weights are averages: a pair of boots weighs more than a pair of sandals.
- Packaging varies: we count 250 g per parcel, but a box holding three shoe boxes can weigh more.
- Volumetric weight isn't counted: with shoe boxes, the combined parcel may be billed heavier.
- Clothing-only lines are left out, since our parcels contain shoes. For a parcel of clothes only, other lines open up.
- We only count shipping. Some agents' per-parcel fees increase the saving; customs can reduce it if the combined parcel goes over €150 of goods.
Where does Yupa fit in?
Yupa is a search engine for Yupoo shops. The Delivered price calculator calculator uses the same grids as this calculation: you enter your items, and it gives you the delivered price line by line, with agent fees, shipping, customs and VAT, from cheapest to most expensive. We don't sell items or shipping, and we take no commission on shipments.

Frequently asked questions
How much does consolidating parcels at your agent save?
Across 78 lines to France recorded on October 21, 2026, counting by started kilo, sending 3 pairs of shoes in one parcel instead of three saves a median €49.19 in shipping, from €18.99 to €136.21 depending on the line. For 4 items (one pair, one hoodie, two T-shirts), it's €82.55.
Why does one parcel cost less than several?
Every parcel pays the first step of the rate again, which costs more than the next ones: on our grids, a median €33.99 for the first kilo, against €15.57 for each extra kilo. A combined parcel pays it only once.
How do I calculate a parcel's volumetric weight?
Length × width × height in centimeters, divided by 5,000 at DHL Express and UPS. Some agent lines divide by 6,000 or 8,000. The carrier charges whichever is higher: real weight or volumetric weight.
Should I remove the shoe boxes before shipping?
It cuts volume, and so volumetric weight. Agents offer to remove or fold the box (¥5 per box for folding at one of them), but a folded box may keep creases. If the box matters to you, keep it.
How long will my agent store my items for free?
90 to 120 days at the agents whose rules we read, from the item's arrival at the warehouse. After that, storage becomes paid or the parcel is considered abandoned, depending on the agent.
Does consolidating change customs?
Yes, both ways. Items of the same type pay only once per parcel (€3 duty and €2 fee per item in the customs sense). But above €150 of goods, normal duties replace the €3, and the €2 is still due. Never split a parcel to stay under the threshold.
Is there a maximum weight for a consolidated parcel?
Yes, every line has its limits: on the lines one agent showed for France on November 1, 2026, from 2 to 30 kg depending on the line (sea freight aside), with maximum sizes. Beyond that, you need another line.
Should I insure a consolidated parcel?
Your whole haul travels in one box: a loss hits everything. At one agent, insurance costs 2% or 4% of the parcel's total cost and doesn't cover duties and taxes. Read the terms before shipping.
