Is KakoBuy legit? What we actually checked

Short answer

KakoBuy is a shopping agent: it buys for you on Weidian, Taobao or 1688 and ships the parcel to you. On October 21, 2026, its site showed no service fee, usually ¥8 for the customs declaration per parcel, 100 days of free storage and 17 lines to France, 14 of them with duties and VAT included. None of that guarantees your order. Start small, ask for QC photos and compare the delivered price before you pay.

What is KakoBuy, exactly?

KakoBuy doesn't make or sell anything under its own name. It's a middleman. You paste the link of a Weidian or Taobao item, often found in a Yupoo album. KakoBuy buys it from the seller, receives it in its warehouse in China, shows you photos, then keeps your items until you ask for shipping.

So you pay the agent: the item price, domestic shipping in China, international shipping and any extras you pick. The seller is the same whether you use KakoBuy or another agent. The full process is in Ordering from Yupoo: how it works, step by step.

What we checked on its site

On October 21, 2026, we read KakoBuy's fee and help pages, and its shipping calculator for a parcel to France. Here is what they said that day:

• Service fee: none. The site promises a free agent service. You pay for the item, domestic shipping, international shipping and customs. Extra services are optional.
• Customs declaration: usually ¥8 per parcel, according to the help page.
• Storage: 100 free days, with a reminder email at 90 days. After that, the parcel is treated as abandoned and destroyed. We found no price for extending it.
• Lines to France: 17 in the calculator, 14 of them marked duties and VAT included ("Tariffless", "Duty-Free").
• EU customs: three dated notices, from June 22, June 30 and October 20, 2026. In the last one, KakoBuy says it covers the €2 fee from November 1 on eligible parcels.

Not found that day: the number of free QC photos, the price of extra photos and the insurance terms. Ask customer support before your first order.

What no review can promise you

An agent that shows its fees and follows the new customs rules is a good sign. It says nothing about your own order. A few things to keep in mind:

• You're buying from a Chinese seller, outside your own market. Returns are harder and more expensive, and your usual consumer protections don't apply the same way.
• The agent checks what it sees in photos. It doesn't guarantee quality, size or authenticity. Reading the QC photos is up to you (see QC photos: how to check your order before it leaves the warehouse).
• Many KakoBuy reviews online come from sites or accounts that earn a commission on your purchases. Check who is writing before trusting a rating.
• An agent can change its fees overnight. Our figures have a date: always check the final price on its site, with your address.

What a pair of shoes costs, delivered with KakoBuy

On October 31, 2026, we asked the Yupa calculator (Delivered price calculator) for the delivered price of a pair of shoes at ¥300, which was €39.60 at the day's rate (¥1 = €0.132). Parcel estimated at 1,550 g with packaging, billed as 2,000 g, because agents round up to the next weight step. Out of 93 options compared, the cheapest KakoBuy line came 8th:

Shipping rates taken on October 21, 2026 from the agents' calculators, for delivery to France. On these lines the agent pays duties and VAT, so the price is the same in every EU country we cover, if the line ships there. KakoBuy isn't the cheapest here, but its stated delivery time is short. With another weight, the ranking changes.

What is a KakoBuy spreadsheet?

Search for KakoBuy and you'll quickly find "KakoBuy spreadsheets". They are shared tables, often on Google Sheets, listing items with a photo, a price and a link. The link doesn't open the seller's album: it opens the item page on KakoBuy, often with a referral code in the address. The author of the sheet then gets a cut of what you spend.

Handy for ideas. But a frozen list ages fast:

• New items from sellers never make it in. As of October 30, 2026, 13,705 listings had been posted in 30 days in the stores Yupa follows (see Yupoo barometer).
• Links die: a removed item or a changed Weidian link, and the row leads nowhere.
• The price shown is from the day the row was added, not the day you order.
• It only shows one agent, and never the delivered price with shipping, customs and VAT.

Customs when you use KakoBuy

Using an agent doesn't make customs go away. In the European Union, a parcel with a declared value under €150 pays €3 of duty per item category since July 1, 2026. From November 1, 2026, add a €2 handling fee per item. Your country's VAT is still due: 20% in France, 23% in Poland.

On a line marked duties included, KakoBuy pays all of this and counts it in the shipping price: nothing to pay at the door. On other lines, you pay on delivery. Ordering with KakoBuy without bad surprises

• Start with a small order, one or two items, to see how photos and shipping go.
• Ask for QC photos and take the time to read them before you approve shipping.
• Compare the delivered price, not just the shipping price. The Delivered price calculator calculator puts KakoBuy next to other agents, line by line.
• Pick a duties-included line if you want a fixed price with nothing to pay at the door.
• Note the date your items reach the warehouse: after 100 days, an unshipped parcel is destroyed.
• Look at the full address of a link before clicking. If it carries a referral code, someone gets paid on your order.
• Always pay on the agent's site, never by direct transfer to a seller you don't know.
