Shipping time from China to France: a median 10 to 18 days, 3 to 139 depending on the line

Updated 01/11/2026

“Shipping time from China to Europe”, “how long does shipping from China take”: when you order through an agent, transport is only one step out of seven. On October 21, 2026, we recorded the delivery times that 21 agents announce on 125 shipping lines to France. Half of them announce 18 days at most, and the extremes run from 3 to 139 days. Here is every step, from the seller to your mailbox, and what makes each one longer.

The short answer

Think in three stages. First the seller: they ship fast if the item is in stock (现货), much later if it's a presale (预售) or made to order (定做). Then your agent's warehouse: QC photos, storage, consolidation. Finally transport, where everything depends on the line you pick. Across the 125 lines to France that Yupa recorded on October 21, 2026, agents announce a median minimum of 10 days and a median maximum of 18 days. UPS and DHL lines leaving from Hong Kong announce a median 7 to 12 days, train or truck 27.5 to 35 days, sea 55 to 67.5 days. These are announced times, not measured ones. What adds the most time: presales, a return to the seller, Chinese New Year (Saturday, February 6, 2027), 11.11, and a slow line picked to pay less.

The 7 steps of an order

With an agent, your parcel makes two trips: one inside China, from the seller to the agent's warehouse, then an international one, from the warehouse to your door. The time the agent shows when you pick a line only covers the second. The order itself is explained in How to buy from Yupoo: from album to parcel at your door, in 5 steps; here, we watch the clock.

StepWhat happensWhat can slow it down

Step 1: the seller, and three words to look for

This is the step people forget, and often the longest. Before ordering, look for one of these three words on the listing or sales page, all explained in Yupoo Chinese words: 偏大 means “runs large”, and it shows up 2.5 times more than 偏小:

  • 现货 (“in stock”): the item is ready and the seller can send it right away.
  • 预售 (“presale”): it's a pre-order, so the item leaves later. In May 2025, according to the Chinese outlet 潮新闻, Taobao capped, in clothing, the number of items showing shipment within 4 to 15 days, and pushed sellers to promise 3 days or less.
  • 定做 or 定制 (“made to order”): the item is made for you, often in a rare shoe size. Add the production time. And in China, made-to-order goods are excluded from the 7-day no-reason return (article 25 of the consumer protection law).

On Taobao, the listing shows a shipping time promised by the seller: 48 hours, 72 hours, 7 days… But on November 1, 2026, 93% of the 386,471 Yupoo listings with a buy link led to Weidian, and we found no public Weidian rule on shipping times. Ask the seller for the date.

Step 2: the trip to the warehouse

A Chinese courier delivers the parcel to your agent's warehouse. Two periods slow this trip down: 11.11, when courier companies are buried in parcels (figures in Yupoo 11.11 sale: only 4 listings out of 1.57 million mention it), and Chinese New Year, covered below.

Step 3: QC photos, and the cost of a return

On arrival, the warehouse checks the item and sends you photos (QC, for quality control). Look at them quickly and carefully; the method is in QC photos: GL or RL? The checklist before your parcel ships.

If the size or color is wrong, a return starts everything over: the item goes back to the seller, and the replacement makes the trip to the warehouse again. In China, for distance purchases, the law gives you 7 days after receipt to send an item back without giving a reason. The seller refunds within 7 days of receiving the return, and return shipping is paid by the buyer unless agreed otherwise. Made-to-order items are excluded. With an agent, ask how long a return stays possible.

Step 4: storage and consolidation

Your items wait at the warehouse until you ask for shipping. To pay less postage, you group them into one parcel. The catch: the parcel leaves once the last item has arrived, and a single presale item holds up everything else.

Storage is free for a while. On October 21, 2026, we recorded this period on the public pages of 8 agents: 90 days at 5 of them, 100 days at 2, 120 days at 1. After that, 2 of these agents charge for an extension, and 3 warn that the parcel may be treated as abandoned, or even destroyed.

Step 5: transport, what 125 lines say

On October 21, 2026, Yupa recorded 143 shipping lines from 21 agents, all to France. 132 show a delivery time. 7 appeared twice (the same line recorded two times): we counted them only once, which leaves 125 lines. To another country, lines and times can differ: check your agent's calculator. 112 come from the agents' own sites (public calculators or rate tables), 13 from a rate comparison site, not checked on the agent's own site.

These are times announced by the agents, not times measured on real parcels. Each line gives a range, such as “10-15 days”, and we read both ends separately. The median announced minimum is 10 days and the median maximum is 18 days. 84 lines out of 125 announce 20 days at most; 11 announce more than a month.

Express, train, sea: the gap

We sorted the lines by their name and carrier. UPS and DHL lines leaving from Hong Kong announce the shortest times. Special lines to Europe make up most of the offer: 92 lines out of 125, 86 of them sold as “tax free”, “duty free” or with taxes prepaid, with DHL, DPD, UPS, Colissimo, GOFO or YunExpress as the carrier when one is named. Train, truck, sea and SAL, an economy postal service, are much slower.

Maximum announced time, median by type of line
UPS, DHL from Hong Kong (7 lines)12 days
Special lines to Europe (92)18 days
Post: EMS and EUB (12)23.5 days
Train or truck (6)35 days
Sea (4)67.5 days
SAL (4)77.5 days

The word “express” guarantees nothing: 10 lines have it in their name, and they announce anything from 6-10 days to 30-40 days, for a line that travels by train. Among the 4 SAL lines, only one, recorded on the comparison site, announces 7 to 16 days; the other 3 announce at least 45 days.

By carrier

The carrier written on the line matters less than the type of line: DHL and DPD lines announce the same median, 10 to 18 days. UPS stands out: 6 of its 8 lines leave from Hong Kong.

The extremes

Here are the lines with the shortest and longest announced times. This is not a recommendation: these times aren't measured, and prices, accepted weights and rules vary from one line to the next.

Working days, punctuality: read the fine print

  • 48 lines out of 125 count in working days (“working days”, “business days”, “jours ouvrés”), so without weekends or public holidays. 15 working days is three calendar weeks.
  • The announced time is not a guarantee. Two agents show an on-time rate on their calculator: 61% for a DHL line announced at 10 to 15 days at one, 94.07% for a DHL line announced at 12 to 17 days at the other.
  • Look at the maximum, not the minimum: it tells you when to start worrying.

Paying less often means waiting longer

We also have 20 rates for a 3 kg parcel to France, one per agent, recorded on October 21, 2026 on a rate comparison site and not checked on each agent's site. The 6 lines whose announced time starts at 20 days or more cost €21 to €49, €34 at the median. The other 14 cost €30 to €78, €53.50 at the median. The cheapest, at €21, went by train, for 30 to 40 announced days. To see what an item costs delivered to you, agent and shipping included, use Delivered price calculator.

Step 6: customs

On arrival in the European Union, the parcel goes through import formalities. In France, according to La Poste, they include a check of the legality of the import, the declared value and compliance with standards, and can sometimes take a few days. If a document or piece of information is missing, the tracking says so. French customs give no typical duration: the carrier handles the formalities, and a missing or wrong invoice, a missing document or unpaid duties can block the parcel.

Your line decides who declares the parcel and whether VAT is paid at shipping. The calculation is in Customs on parcels from China in 2026: €3 duty, €2 fee, VAT, worked out, and if your tracking says “held at customs”, everything is in Package stuck in customs? A real DHL payment request always shows your waybill number.

Step 7: the last mile

In Europe, a local courier takes over and delivers to you. The line's name often tells you which one: Colissimo, DPD, DHL, GOFO. You follow the delivery and pay any duties on that courier's official site, with your tracking number, typing the address yourself.

The periods that slow everything down

Chinese New Year 2027 falls on Saturday, February 6, 2027. The official mainland China holiday schedule for 2027 had not been published yet on November 1, 2026. The 2026 one came out on November 4, 2025, with 9 days off for the Spring Festival, from February 15 to 23, 2026.

Major Chinese couriers say they don't close (不打烊). But in 2026, several announced a surcharge for the holiday, from February 15 or 16 to the 23rd, and the Chinese press noted slightly slower delivery times. The authorities also asked them to publish their service hours in advance. Your seller and your agent's warehouse have their own holidays: ask them for their dates before you order.

  1. February 15-23, 2026 Spring Festival holiday in mainland China (9 days), for reference.
  2. February 5, 2027 (Friday) Last day of the lunar year, Chinese New Year's Eve.
  3. February 6, 2027 (Saturday) Chinese New Year.
  4. February 6-9, 2027 New Year public holidays in Hong Kong, Saturday to Tuesday.

What we suggest

  • Before ordering, look for 现货, 预售 or 定做 on the listing, and ask the seller for their shipping date.
  • For a gift or a fixed date, compare the lines' maximum time, not the minimum, and check whether it's in working days.
  • If you're in a hurry, don't group a presale item with in-stock items: the parcel waits for the last one.
  • Check your QC photos as soon as they arrive: a return restarts the seller step.
  • Before Chinese New Year, aim for arrival at the warehouse well before February 6, 2027, and check When to order.
  • Compare the delivered price by line with Delivered price calculator: the cheapest line is often the slowest.

Where Yupa fits in

Yupa is a search engine for Yupoo shops: we show the seller's price converted to euros, with the link to the listing. We sell no items and no shipping, we take no commission, from shops or agents, and we recommend no line. The times in this article are the ones the agents announce.
